The Physician is responsible to consult with the Program Director and Director of Operations when necessary to ensure appropriate medical interventions.  The Physician consults with the Admission Department to ensure residents are medically appropriate for treatment. The Physician sees each resident weekly and completes a full history and physical within 72 hours of admission.  If indicated, medications are prescribed, and monitored by the Physician at least once weekly. In addition, the Physician consults as needed with the treatment team and may attend treatment planning meetings.


  • Must be a graduate of an approved medical school and holds a current license in the state.
  • Eligible for membership in the local branch of the State Medical Society.


  • Meets regularly in a collaborative fashion with the Program Director to discuss individual treatment progress.
  • Acts on behalf of the treatment program when called upon. Such interactions may include insurance companies, licensing and accreditation bodies.
  • Is on call to the treatment staff on a twenty-four hour basis.
  • Sees individual residents to monitor progress on a weekly basis.
  • Provides a second opinion evaluation when needed.
  • Assists program treatment staff in treatment planning.
  • Provides medical direction to the treatment team.
  • Assists in the identification of continuing medical educational needs and provides input to the Director of Performance Improvement for development of appropriate in-service education and training for the Treatment staff.
