Facility Overview

This position is at an outpatient eating disorder facility for adults and adolescents in age specific treatment groups, with comprehensive family program and family support. Our specialized programs are integrated partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Program hours are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 11 am and 8 pm, Saturday 9 am to 3 pm. Clients attend as many as six days or as few as three days per week, as clinically appropriate.

As each client begins one of our eating disorder outpatient programs, they are assessed by our multidisciplinary team and provided with a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan.

 

Job Summary:

 

The Clinical Advisor is responsible for the supervision and oversight of staff training and development.  He/She consults with the Program Director and Director of Outpatient Services on an as needed basis to ensure services, program functioning and client treatment are being conducted in a manner consistent with the Center for Discovery’s mission statement and values.

CEDS (Certified Eating Disorder Specialist) preferred. Ability to supervise LPC interns preferred.

 

Schedule: 10 – 20 hours a week

Qualifications

Education:

Masters Degree or Doctorate required.

LMFT, PhD, PsyD, or LSCS (or state specific) License required.

Approved Supervisor (state specific)

CEDS (Certified Eating Disorder Specialist) preferred.

 

Experience:

Two years’ experience in acute, residential, outpatient or hospital setting.

Must have some management experience.             

Ability to supervise LPC interns preferred.

 

 

Competencies:

  1. Is able to demonstrate advanced understanding of the population being treated.
  2. Possesses knowledge of DSM diagnostic criteria and APA guidelines.
  3. Able to demonstrate an understanding of eating disorders, the recovery process and the requirements for sustained recovery. 
  4. Possess working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic assessment and related treatment interventions.
  5. Knowledge of evidence based treatments and ability to individualize treatment approaches to meet each client’s needs.
  6. Understanding of and ability to communicate with people of all educational and cultural backgrounds.
  7. Must be able to conceptualize and implement master treatment plan with fully developed problems, objectives and goals and monitor other clinicians to do the same.
  8. Must be able to demonstrate leadership ability and related knowledge.
  9. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Ability to manage stressful or difficult situations and to provide leadership to others in doing the same.
  11. Must demonstrate tact, initiative, resourcefulness, professionalism, enthusiasm and a non-judgmental attitude.
  12. Ability to maintain JCAHO and State standards for the facility in coordination with the Director of Performance Improvement.

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities:

 

  1. Monitor and assess staff morale and build team spirit and continuity.
  2. Provide regular in-service trainings to all Professional and Counseling treatment staff.  Areas of development and in-service training include but are not limited to:
  • Diagnosis and Assessment
  • Group Therapy
  • Milieu Management
  • Communication Skills

 

  1. Supervise and counsel on utilization reviews and when necessary conducts peer to peer reviews as training with clinical staff
  2. Serve as a positive role model to treatment staff, clients, employees, and guests by maintaining a positive, caring and professional attitude.
  3. Co-lead process group and/or any additional clinically oriented groups on an as needed basis.
  4. Participate in the marketing plan as requested. Maintaining collaborative relationships with outpatient treatment team professionals. Conducting facility tours for professionals in the community or families as necessary.
  5. Represent Center for Discovery through a positive public presence while out in community settings such as Educational events, Marketing events, Conferences and Talks.
  6. Maintains the confidential nature of resident and related activities.
  7. Travel may be required from time to time for presentations and trainings on behalf of Center for Discovery.
