The Facility Credentialing Specialist position serves as the central point-of-contact for all Discovery facility/payor relationships. This position is part of the Insurance Department and will report directly to the Executive Director of Admissions and Business Relations.  The primary function of this role is to thoroughly and efficiently complete facility credentialing applications for the purposes of becoming in-network with insurance companies. The Facility Credentialing Specialist interacts with payors and government entities, as needed, to ensure all facilities are approved for business.  He/she will manage certifications as well as renewal certifications in a timely and proactive manner.


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Familiar with various payer requirements for facility credentialing with private payers
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent telephonic and electronic communication skills
  • Shows initiative to accomplish tasks
  • Ability to work independently, meeting specific goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of business office procedures
  • Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment
  • Ability to operate a multi-line telephone
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and managers

Preferred Skills

  • Previous facility credentialing experience preferred


  • Completes, reviews and updates all credentialing and re-credentialing applications
  • Creates, updates, and maintains credentialing database
  • Applies knowledge/skills to a range of moderately complex activities 
  • Conducts self in accordance with company policies, procedures and Employee Handbook
  • Conducts audits and provides feedback to reduce errors and improve processes and performance
