    The Position

    This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position located at our home office in Los Alamitos, CA. We are seeking an energetic, results-oriented Payroll Assistant with a passion for people and creating solutions. This is a great opportunity for an ideal candidate looking for an entry level position in a Payroll department to be working with different levels of management in a corporate office setting.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred.
    • Minimum one year payroll department experience preferred
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Must have clear, effective, and efficient verbal and written communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and strong ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines within a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with HRIS software (Paycom) a plus

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure employee timecards are properly submitted and reviewed prior to processing.
    • Work out staff modifications such as direct deposit, tax withholding, garnishments, liens, etc. as required
    • Give responses to and answer payroll inquires promptly
    • Handle payroll transactions by adhering to Center For Discovery’s procedures and policies
    • Carry out regular clerical functions which involve faxing, filing, copying, and emailing
    • Revise diverse spreadsheets to maintain precise records
    • Establish and manage reports within the HRIS (Paycom)
    • Handle staff confidence and safeguard payroll transactions by ensuring confidentiality of information
    • Maintain Vacation and Sick accrual and other accruals as necessary.
    • Maintain various excel spreadsheets, databases and preparation of reports.
    • Answer incoming HR calls and designate calls to appropriate departments or peers.
