    The Facility

    This position is at an outpatient eating disorder facility for adults and adolescents in age specific treatment groups, with comprehensive family program and family support (for a virtual tour please visit our website at CenterForDiscovery.com). Our specialized programs are integrated partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Program hours are Monday through Friday, between the hours of 11 am and 8 pm, Saturday 9 am to 3 pm. Clients attend as many as six days or as few as three days per week, as clinically appropriate. As each client begins one of our eating disorder outpatient programs, they are assessed by our multidisciplinary team and provided with a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan.

     

    The Position

    This is a per diem position with the possibility of converting into a part-time position. Hours are dependent upon census and scheduling needs of the program. The Nurse Practitioner consults with the psychiatrist to ensure appropriate medical interventions are achieved. The Nurse Practitioner meets with each client and completes assessments. The Nurse is responsible for carrying out any orders received from the psychiatrist, and reports information to the Program Director and Facility  Coordinator as needed. 

    Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in Nursing
    • Experience in eating disorders, mental health or counseling services is preferred
    • Nurse Practitioner license from the applicable state is required
    • Mental health nursing experience is a plus

    Responsibilities

    • Completing H&P upon admission for each client
    • Developing and initiating the Nursing Care Plan
    • Providing clear and complete client documentation
    • Implementing Physician Orders
    • Availability for consultation after hours and returns telephone calls/pages within a ten-minute time frame
    • Counting narcotics daily, logs appropriately
    • Meeting regularly with medical staff to discuss client treatment
    • Providing assessments of medical problems
    • Performing primary first aid and determining need for physician notification
    • Meeting with each client, completing a daily assessment, taking vital signs and administering all prescription medication
    • Responsibility for carrying out any orders received from the physician and psychiatrist, and reporting information to the Nurse Administrator, Program Director and Facility
    • Contributing insightful, practical, and meaningful information to the treatment planning process
    • Directing residents in a clear, concise, and informative matter
    • Understanding the therapeutic process and confidentiality laws, and having strong knowledge of professional ethics
    • Demonstrating leadership abilities, with an ability to communicate with persons from all educational and cultural backgrounds
    • Demonstrating tact, initiative, resourcefulness, a professional manner, enthusiasm, and a non-judgmental attitude
